Strategic Action Plan

Howdenshire Forward's  Strategic Action Plan has been adopted an updated by the Howdenshire Forward Board.  

The original consultant documents and Strategic Framework are also available to download from the links on the right hand side of the page.

The overall aim of the plan is:

"to make Howden and Howdenshire a better place to live, work, invest in and visit by developing the local economy and improving local services, with any growth and development being managed in a sustainable way that protects the history and character of Howdenshire".

 

This overall aim is broken down into four areas of work.  You can click on the links below to find out more about each area of work.

  • Business: Supporting development of new and existing businesses in Howden and surrounding areas, especially in the areas of digital business and the local retail offer.
  • Public Spaces: Improving the quality of public spaces in Howden for both residents and visitors.
  • Transport and Parking: Improving accessibility to Howden and other main villages in Howdenshire.
  • Culture: Developing the cultural offer of Howden and surrounding areas to be sustainable and better meet the needs of residents and visitors.

 


Communications Strategy

The Communications Strategy sets out how Howdenshire Forward will communicate with all of its key partners and audiences in Howden and Howdenshire.  The strategy can be downloaded from the column on the right hand side.


Goole and Howdenshire Business Premises Study

The study concluded with feedback given to board members of Goole Renaissance and Howdenshire Forward Town team members. An Action Plan encompassing the following points to further develop was recommended by the Consultant, Ivan Annibal.

  • Investor Development Programme - visits to key businesses
  • Discuss expansion challenges with specific businesses
  • Joint planning and meeting of the 2 Renaissance Partnership boards
  • Formal networking amongst port facing companies
  • Digital media - identify a commercial partner, seek a university partner
  • Tease out in more detail proposals emerging in: Doncaster, Leeds, York, Wakefield.

Key recommendations will be considered and worked upon by both Renaissance Partnerships.
